![]() To be honest I have never taken time to master this, nor dualbooting with windows - I haven't bothered as I have several older computers and if I wish to try a distro I can install on such a computer I recommend this approach. We are getting off topic and off list here, but in the hope that it may help, note that you can try most linux distros from a USB stick in particular Ubuntu (and family derivatives) can be set to have allocated memory ("persistence") so that theoretically you can install external programs and remember them from session to session. ![]() Then next I really need to consider Xubuntu and I will in the not to distant future. I have modified a macro to allow me, writing in my own persona, to enter such comments as if they were from any of these pseudo authors. In my current text I have several pseudo authors - InProgress, to mark areas currently being written, Reminder, to flag things I have to do elsewhere, TimeFlow, to keep track of the unwinding of my tale against the calendar and other sections. I use comments by various pseudo authors to keep track of areas and requirements in a document. When the file has opened - with a 2100 page file this may take a minute or two - you can move about the comments and their locations using the Navigator. The new document may behave better.Ī useful method is to /Insert /Comment at your current editing location. Check that all is in the new document - a matching page count is usually a sign that all is right. Such origin often leaves strange happenings (or in this case, not happenings!)Įdit: A trick that sometimes helps is to open a new (blank) Writer document, then Ctrl A in the old document to select all (beware if using sections - you may need to Ctrl A three times to get the entire), then Ctrl C, switch to new document and Ctrl V. If that is not working, it may be that your file originated in MS Word or some other editor. We have told you the method - entry of a User name in OpenOffice's settings.
